Out of these, we lose about 50 to 100 hairs everyday due to our regular daily activities. If you’re a female dealing with hair loss, you’re not alone. Here’s a quick look at the top hair loss treatments available for women.

Before we dive in, let’s take a look at why we lose hair in the first place. Hair loss is typically attributed to one of the following factors:

  • Family History

  • Congenital conditions

What Hair Loss Treatments are Available for Women?

If you’re suffering from hair loss, know that you are not alone. You should not suffer in silence. There are different medications, surgeries and treatments now available at your fingertips.

NON-SURGICAL

Medications

There are several medications that have been approved by the FDA to help treat hair loss. Some examples are Minoxidil, Finasteride, Dutasteride, Spironolactone, etc. The treatment’s recommended usage is once a day. However, patience is the key, as it usually take three to four months for any noticeable results to reflect.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP is a blood plasma made from a concentration of autologous platelets from your own blood and is injected into your scalp to help bathe or enrich “problem” cells. This is done to promote tissue regeneration, healing and production of new cells to help restore or grow new hair follicles.

Scalp Micro Pigmentation

Some patients are not suitable for surgery, while others just not prefer to do so. With scalp micro pigmentation is a permanent (or semi-permanent) tattoo based on small dots of pigments that will match your hair color. These will be deposited on your epidermis, simulating hair and help camouflage the balding and thinning scalps.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLTT)

Laser Therapy helps increase cellular activity within the hair follicle by using devices that contain diodes which emit red light. It promotes enhanced blood flow and circulation which aid the treatment and growth of hair follicles on your scalp.

SURGICAL

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

FUE is a type of surgery where a small dull or sharp punch is made on the patient’s scalp to harvest the healthy individual follicular units. The harvested grafts are then transplanted back to “problem” areas on the scalp to aid with hair growth.

NHC Bundles (Multi-unit graft surgery)

Depending on the severity of hair loss and availability of health follicles, our team of specialists may suggest going with NHC Bundles or multi-unit graft surgery. It is a hair transplant procedure where micrografts, follicular units and multi-follicular units are combined to result in a substantial increase the hair density.

Single-unit graft surgery (Micro-graft surgery)

For patients that only suffer from hair loss along the front lines of their face, a single-unit graft surgery is highly recommended. This procedure involves a transplant of a single healthy follicle unit along the front section of the hair-bearing scalp. This will result in a softer, finer and more natural looking hairline.
