Hair Plug Correction
The first hair transplant in the Western Hemisphere was performed in 1950. The doctor removed small round plugs from the back of the patient’s head and transplanted them on the bald frontal part. Although the growth was successful, the cosmetic result was unnatural. The term PLUG comes from this procedure and is always used to refer to an old type of hair transplant surgery.
In the new century, this type of surgery is no longer performed in any hair clinic. From time to time, however, we have patients that have had this surgery years ago and want it to be corrected. At Nashville Hair Clinic we offer corrective surgery not only for these type of cases, but also for other types of hair transplant surgeries that have a “plugy” or “grafty” look.
